With Steve Phillips & Richard Hirstwood.

10 October – Newcastle
14 October – London
18 October – Manchester

This day will explore how leaders (school/curriculum/subject) can demonstrate they have built ‘a curriculum with appropriate coverage, content, structure and sequencing’; how it is  implemented in the classroom and its impact on learning.

Learning Outcomes:

Delegates will:

  • explore radically different approaches to non-subject specific and pre-specific learning curricula
  • understand the key curriculum needs of pupils with profound and complex learning needs
  • understand how to profile your current cohort of pupils learning needs and use the information to inform the design of your curriculum; including introducing a sensory profile tool and the importance of thinking skills in learning
  • explore what engagement in learning means & how to bring about this
  • explore the importance of play in learning and the neuro-science, biology and behaviour theories that support such a curriculum model
  • develop an awareness of the 2019 EIF and the implications for schools delivering a curriculum for learners with profound and severe complex needs

Who should attend?

This will be appropriate for teachers and classroom practitioners from special schools and colleges, mainstream settings & those with specialist SEN provision and early years settings, and who wish to develop their curriculum for learners with severe and complex needs.
